Mexico is the eight most popular tourist destination in the world. With a population of more than 103 million. Mexico is the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world.

The most populous city in the country is the capital city, 
Mexico City, with a population of 8.7 million, and 19.2 million in the whole of the metropolitan area, which furthermore makes it on of the most populous cities in the world. 

The United Mexican States, or commonly Mexico, comprise a constitutional republic federation of thirty-one states and a federal district (Mexico City). The economy of Mexico is the 14th largest in the world. Mexico has a free market and export-oriented economy and is the only Latin American member of OECD. The Mexican currency is the peso, the exchange rate to USD has remained stable since 1998. 

 
 

There are various places to visit in Mexico, which attract millions of people from all over the world throughout the year. Mexico is divided into several regions, which are furthermore divided into cities and towns. Each of these regions and towns have their own attractions. Some of the most popular Mexico tourist attractions are: 

Acapulco
  is one of the major cities in Mexico. The attractions of the city include the Coyuca Lagoon where people can enjoy a wide variety of aqua activities such as snorkeling, yachting, fishing and a lot more. In Mexico there are so many places to explore and so many things to do, that a tourist can enjoy a memorable holiday in the country. 

The famous Mayan Reef, the largest reef of coral in the western hemisphere, is the main attraction of Mayan Reef. El Castillo is a famous Mayan Indians pyramid located near Cancun. The beautiful pyramid is dedicated to the Wind God and is considered one of the  major attractions of the country.  

The Rocky Point is a popular destination in the country. The beautiful town is located on the northern bank of Cortez Sea. The peninsular of 
Cancun is an ideal location for water sports. It also offers several Mayan archaeological spots, which attracts tourists to Cancun. 


Monterrey, the third largest city of Mexico is home to several tourist attractions such as the Macro Plaza, the Cathedral, the Museum of Mexican History, Paseo Santa Lucia and much more. The Mayan Riviera is one of the most admired tourist attractions in the whole world. 

Mexico City, the capital of Mexico, is located at an altitude of more than 1.6 km. The city is built on the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the ancient Aztec capital. Reminders of past civilization pervade the city, particularly at the Templo Mayor excavation. Templo Mayor is known as the main temple of the Aztecs. Results of recent excavations have lead to more and more interesting artifacts in the temple. It was originally built around the early 1300's and you can still view the different shrines to the gods that were build. Many fascinating artifacts are on view in the nearby Museo del Templo Mayor. 

Another place of great historical relevance that is located in Mexico City is Teotihuacan. This ancient city is estimated to have been populated by 150 BC. The Aztecs believed that Teotihuacan was a place where the sun, moon and the universe were created. If you visit the site, you can climb both the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon. Chapultepec Park is a great place to visit if you want to encounter a variety of activities to enjoy. Located within this beautiful park are many great museums, including the Museum of Anthropology.
